  It was purely an impromptu, last minute booking while rushing towards meeting deadlines that lead me to booking here. I saw a video on youtube talking about how wonderful the hotel was and I figured why not. I had business in Munich & Nuremburg, Germany the week before. So when the business aspect was over, I hopped on the train and took a 2 hr train ride for about euro*; and a euro* bus ride to downtown Salzburg. Located at Getriedegasse-the center of old town shopping area, the location is right across the street from the bus stop. you can't miss it. The name Goldener Hirsh means the Golden Stag in German. If you search on the internet, I'm sure you'll see plenty of pictures of the outside and inside. The staff were wonderful, friendly, helpful & very very knowlegeable about all of the places the wondering travelers should not want to miss in historic Salzburg. The front desk lady was even able to book me several tours at no extra charge on my behalf on the day of the tour; which I really appreciated. One word of caution: This hotel, as well as Salzburg isn't for those traveling on a shoe string budget American. As an American; I'm sad to say with the Euro at $1.3964 to 1 Euro, it's not the cheapest way. ....but then again, for the location, the service, the histories, & wonderful memories you're sure to have; definitely it's worth at least a night or two stay. [...then it's your choice, there's plenty of other hotels near by within walking distance that's less expensive.] ...and bring along your own wall adoptors. For the business/vacation travelers who like to stay connected. It can be a nice relaxing experience to get unplugged. ;) Bon Voyage!

  While this is a nice hotel in a good location it is way over rated, it is a nice european hotel but the rooms are small and the breakfast is ...

  While this is a nice Hotel in a good location it is way over rated, It is a nice European Hotel but the rooms are small and the breakfast is very expensive, priced at * Euros. Don't expect luxury and you won't be disappointed. And eat breakfast at the McCafe up the street.

• Nice hotel, great location

  Very nice hotel- reportedly the best in the city. location is central and everything in town is within walking distance. breakfast in restaurant was very good.
