Just got back from Hyatt Regency, Scottsdale.  This was my second time there.  Sadly, it will be my last time there.  Apparently they poled 1,000 women and after doing so they decided to take away all the comforters and decorative pillows from the beds.  I get that the comforters are the dirtiest things in the room, next to the carpet (which my sister got athletes foot from on the first day) but it is nice to have the option of whether or not you want to use it to keep you warm at night and it also makes the room feel like that of a nice hotel and not a hospital of which only uses sheets on their beds.   So upon entering your room (which looks nothing like the photos on the internet) you will have four flat sheets on your bed.  Perhaps if you're as lucky as I am, you too will have stains on your sheets as well.  There are no longer and nice comfortable chairs to sit in while you're in your room (whether short or long term) as they have pulled those as well.  I guess those 1,000 women don't like to sit on chairs.  You will, however, have a desk chair to sit on.  That's it.  A bed with four flat sheets, a fitted sheet, sleeping pillows and a desk chair (desk too).  Don't expect anything else. When I travel, I like to enter a room that is welcoming and presented nicely.  I'm not staying here again.  Clean, but I work hard all year.  I want to feel at ease when I enter my room.  This time I walked in saying, what's wrong with this room.  Something is missing... Let me at least have a bed scarf to make it look as if the room is complete.   Oh and the cocktail waitress at the pool took it upon herself to inflate her tip.  I caught that one when I was checking out of the hotel. That's how much it cost me to not return to the Hyatt Regency, Scottsdale. Money well spent.  Kudos. Aside from the athletes foot that my sister obtained from the room, the hotel is clean. So if you don't mind itchy, burning feet and no comforters or chairs to relax on in between your activities then this is the place for you.

We just returned today from a 6-day spring break trip to this resort. The location is excellent, very convenient to restaurants and shopping. The grounds are beautiful. The swimming pools are nice but are crowded. Tip: Go early to "save" chairs. Put down towels and some personal items or they will be completely filled by 8 a.m. One day my son and I went down at 5:00 a.m. to get the spot that we wanted. Ridiculous, but there was no other way to do it. The food that is served by the pool staff is marginal, but the drinks are good. Lunch for 4 with drinks cost us almost $100. Needless to say we ate there once and then never again! The parking lot garbage cans are filled with fast food trash - I guess a lot of other people had the same thoughts as we did. The Canyon Market shop/restaurant is nice, and the food is fairly reasonable and tasty. My husband golfed the adjoining course and enjoyed it, except it cost $575 for him and a buddy to golf 18 with a cart. Would be nice if they offered a discount for hotel guests (or maybe that was the discount price?). Either way, it's very expensive. Plus, there is a $25 daily resort fee on top of the cost of the room, which seemed a little ridiculous since our room was pricey to begin with. The staff was very friendly, especially Ryan by the pool. We were greeted with a margarita when we arrived - very nice touch! Overall, this resort is very nice and was a great place to go for a family vacation. However, I don't think we'll go back as we felt it was a little too expensive for what you actually got. The grounds are beautiful, but the rooms are average and there are no "perks" like a free breakfast or complimentary cocktails in the evening. Warning: If you have young children, be extremely careful when you are anywhere near the lagoons. There are no fences or guard rails - you can just walk up to the edge and fall right in. When we were there a toddler fell in and almost drowned. I can't believe that they are able to have such dangerous areas that close to the pools, right where everyone hangs out! Room Tip: They have live music at night so I would avoid any rooms with balconies that overlook the main area...

We had 4 moms and 5 boys staying at the hotel for spring training. We wanted something for the kids - not too adult or stuffy - but also nice enough for moms to have a nice time and not be eating chicken fingers and Mac n cheese. The hotel was very accommodating not only getting us in early but allowing us to have late check out and 3 rooms next to each other. The pool area was great and kids loved slide. The room was comfortable and really not much to improve it. Tv remote didnt work but we never called housekeeping about it because we werent planning on staying In the room and watching tv anyways.

Little things tell you Big things. And this place had lots of Little surprises that made Big impressions. Simple thoughtfulness - Everybody remembers your name and greets you, free huge breakfast everyday (and an awesome staff that brought my Dad his NY Times everyday when we ate there - That's Unbelievably Classy), balconies in every room for the AZ sunrises and the creative night lights, turn down service with CHOCOLATES - lots of fountains and rivers... Tons of water everywhere and the great sound of water! Seaworld would be proud! Definately on my very short list of S/W Resorts to return to. PS: Ask for a free Margarita when you check in!

Bed was uncomfortable and sheets were rough, pillows were standard sized and lumpy on a king sized bed. Bathroom shower walls had mildew along the botttom. The room was noisy with hall guests and i could hear conversations from other rooms through the vent. I would not stay here again.
